Visitor Visa and Super VisaBack
Visitor Visa: Visitor visa is required by residents of other countries to be able to enter Canada even it if is to visit relatives, for business or for tourism. Depending on the country of origin, a visa application will have to be submitted to the Canadian Immigration to obtain a visa prior to visiting. Some requirements are:
- Have a valid travel document, such as a passport
- Be in good health as a medical examination may be requested
- Satisfy an immigration officer that you have ties to your country of origin, such as a job, home and family, which will compel you to return
- Satisfy an immigration officer that you intend to leave Canada at the end of your visit
- Have sufficient funds for your stay in Canada; you might need to provide financial documents
- You may also need a letter of invitation from someone who lives in Canada
Super Visa: Super Visa is an extended form of Visitor’s visa and parents/grandparents of Canadian Citizen as well as Permanent Residents can apply for issue of Super Visa. Citizenship and Immigration Canada (“CIC”) under this program may issue a multiple-entry visa valid for up to 10 years to eligible applicants to facilitate their back and forth travel between their home country and Canada. Super Visa is a temporary permission to stay in the country. Parents and grandparents who are applying for a Super Visa, still need to fulfill some requirements to qualify:
- The children or grandchildren of the person applying must a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada
- Have a written commitment of financial support from their child or grandchild in Canada who meets a certain economic threshold
- Provide documentation that they have purchased Canadian medical insurance coverage for at least one year
- Complete an immigration medical examination
